Raheem Sterling’s move to Chelsea is nearing completion.

The Telegraph first reported that the England international has reached a contract agreement with the west London club on Wednesday afternoon.

The transfer is anticipated to cost no more than £45 million, which is what Arsenal paid for Gabriel Jesus, and Chelsea is now expecting to finalize a fee with Manchester City in the next 24 to 36 hours.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are also hopeful Sterling will join in time to fly to the United States of America on Saturday for their pre-season tour.

On paper, the transfer appears to make a lot of sense. Last season, Sterling at City was not a starter for sure, and in a World Cup year, he needs as many minutes as possible.

The former Liverpool winger was undoubtedly tempted to sign to terms with Chelsea by their financial offer, in addition to the allure of more playing time.
The Telegraph claim that Sterling’s deal will see him earn slightly more than the enormous £300,000-a-week he’s currently on at City.

After Romelu Lukaku returns to Inter Milan, he will become Chelsea's highest-paid player in 2022–2023 as a result.

At Stamford Bridge, the Belgian striker reportedly made £325,000 each week.
